Playstyles
In Smash Up, you'll notice that each faction has their own style of play. On this page, we define the playstyles that we think classify all factions currently released. When rating a faction, we use a one (being low) to five (being high) scale on how each playstyle impacts a faction.
Aggro
"The Sledgehammer"
These factions generate advantage by relying on strong minions, temporary power gains, and/or card removal.
Control
"The Manipulator"
These factions generate advantage by reshaping the game to work in their favor, often exposing, slowing, and disrupting opponents' gameplans.
Gimmick
"The Specialist"
These factions generate advantage by utilizing niche mechanics, dominating one aspect of the game, and/or exploiting hyper-specific card combos.
Snowball
"The Engine Builder"
These factions generate advantage over time with strong board presence, multi-turn combos, and resource accumulation.
Support
"The Enabler"
These factions generate advantage by adapting and accelerating gameplay with access to more cards, more plays, and/or more mechanics.
Swarm
"The Minion Spammer"
These factions generate advantage by playing lots of minions and having lots of minions in play.
