Effects Definitions
Welcome to the SUD Effects definitions page! Here, we describe what the key effects in which we believe all Smash Up cards can be categorized under. Check them out below!
Copy
Abilities that replicate any card attribute such as values, names, identities, or abilties.
Draw
Abilities that transition cards from Deck to Hand.
Give
Abilities that remove cards from the active player’s card pool and adds them to another player’s card pool.
Play
Abilities that allow extra cards to enter Play.
Tailor
Abilities that alter base values, base abilities, or what bases are in play.
Destroy
Abilities that transition cards out of Play using the “Destroy” keyword.
Earn
Abilities that increase a player’s VP total.
Move
Abilities that relocate cards using the “Move” or “Transfer” keywords.
Recover
Abilities that transition cards from Discard to Play, Hand, or Deck.
Take
Abilities that remove cards from another player’s card pool and adds them to the active player’s card pool.
Disable
Abilities that negate other non-base abilities OR impose restrictions on gameplay mechanics.
Empower
Abilities that increase power values.
Nothing
Abilities that do not produce an Effect.
Return
Abilities that transition cards from Play to Hand or Deck OR transition cards from Hand to Deck.
View
Abilities that allow a player to see cards in another player's card pool or in a deck.
Discard
Abilities that transition non-base cards to Discard from Play, Hand, or Deck.
Find
Abilities that search decks for cards.
Order
Abilities that control the arrangement of cards in decks.
Secure
Abilities that prevent cards from transitioning OR abate undesirable Effects.
Weaken
Abilities that decrease power values.
